What was it?
Culture Hack North: Leeds took place on the 12th and 13th of November 2011 at the Old Broadcasting House in Leeds, as part of the Leeds Digital Festival. It was a satellite event, bringing together local developer talent and the creative and cultural industries in Yorkshire and the surrounding region.
Proceedings
The event included some quirky and intriguing hacks. The emergency opinion generator for awkward dates made everyone laugh, while gallery data suggested a way to translate visual art into music, and the opportunity to think about trains in a playful way appealed to a number of the hackers.
Data
Data was provided by: Breeze Leeds, Cornerhouse, Culture Grid, Leeds Libraries, Leeds Museums, Museums Sheffield, Manchester Museum, National Media Museum, National Railway Museum, Northern Ballet, Opera North, Pilot Theatre, Sheffield Theatres, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The project was managed by Opera North with support from Leeds Hack and Leeds Digital Festival. It was sponsored by Marketing Leeds and NTI Leeds.
